This two-session in person training is on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at ELC of Duval – Southside Office. There will be a lunch break. You are strongly encouraged to bring a bag lunch.

Session 1 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

It’s OK to Play in VPK: What Educators Should Know About Intentional Teaching is the first training in a two-part series. It is based on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. This training builds on the participant’s knowledge of the standards while learning why play is critical to the development of young children and how to intentionally teach and reinforce the FELDS through developmentally appropriate everyday practices.

Session 2 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

It’s OK to Play in VPK: Putting Play into Practice is the second training in a two-part series for preschool educators, directors and administrators. This training uses the participant’s knowledge of the FELDS to facilitate hands-on learning. Participants will actively engage in developmentally appropriate activities that reinforce the standards in various learning centers typically found in a preschool classroom.

Participants must take session 1 prior to session 2. 0.5 CEU’s awarded upon completion of both sessions. You will not be required to complete an implementation plan.

This training is offered by DEL at the ELC of Duval and will count toward the additional hours for the wage incentive. You will still need to complete your initial 5 hours through an ELC of Duval training to qualify for the wage incentive.
