Get Help With My Child’s Development & Behavior/Warm Line

The purpose of developmental screening is to capture a snapshot of a child’s development at a single point in time. Screening identifies children who may not meet the milestones appropriate for their age and might benefit from further assessment and follow-up. When screenings occur regularly, they provide information for tracking a child’s developmental progress.

Screening does not establish a diagnosis but helps determine whether more in-depth assistance is needed. ELC of Duval’s specialists can help link families and children to community-based services and support group programs. Complete a screening below to assess your child’s developmental progress.

Intervention Services

Intervention supports the right that all children can participate in early learning and care settings alongside their same-age peers regardless of their diverse abilities. The ELC of Duval’s Intervention Specialists works with families and providers to ensure the child is in the most appropriate environment.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law in 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places open to the general public.

Children benefit from
intervention svs. because they:

  • Learn how to play and interact with others
  • Develop a positive image of themselves
  • Are provided with role models
  • Learn new skills
  • Are encouraged to be resourceful and creative

Providers benefit from
intervention svs. because they:

  • Grow professionally by developing new skills
  • Have an opportunity to develop new partnerships
  • Learn to communicate more effectively
  • Build strong relationships with parents
  • Enhance their credibility as quality providers
